Corn on the cob made in a slow cooker is the easiest way to make corn on the cob for a crowd! Don’t spend hours standing over a hot grill or stove top to make it… use this easy method for making slow cooker corn on the cob! It’s one of my favorite summer slow cooker recipes! Whether you have been slow cooking for years or you’re new to using a slow cooker, check out my slow cooker user’s resource guide for great slow cooker tips and my favorite slow cooker recipes.
We got a bunch of ears of corn in our local co-op basket a couple weekends ago and I desperately needed to cook it. Hubbyman wasn’t going to be home in time to grill it (my all time fav) and I didn’t just want to steam it, so I started thinking. If I can make baked potatoes in the slow cooker, why not learn how to cook corn on the cob in a slow cooker? The corn went perfectly with yesterday’s Triple Citrus Roasted Chicken.
This really doesn’t count as a recipe, but more of a technique.
How to Cook Corn on the Cob in a Slow Cooker
water

salt
Fill slow cooker about 3/4 of the way with water. Season liberally with salt.
Clean corn of husk and fibers. Trim slightly to fit into slow cooker. Put into water. Corn will float.
Cook on high for about 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Check occasionally and turn/rotate corn so all sides have a chance to sit in the water.

Great idea for big gatherings and not enough stove area. I do believe some people did not have the two parent family or have been taught about cooking basics. It is sad but I do believe there are no wrong questions. I am kinda shocked to find some rude comments on this site though. Maybe these people need to look past their white picket fences and at the real World.

Thanks Misty! 🙂

Are these ADULT people who are so easily shocked at simple “cooking” ?
Sounds like the need instructions on how to slice lettuce.
My best corn on the cob takes 7 minutes in the microwave. I’m a genius.

John not everyone likes to radiate their food in an unhealthy microwave. If you don’t have something nice to say, maybe you shouldn’t say anything.

I agree with the other lady – cook corn on the stove in 5 to 6 minutes. I don’t understand why women are asking about how to make Iced tea and hard cooked eggs. Did none of these gals have mothers that cooked?
Wendy O'Neal says
Sadly they did not Myra! I have many friends that have no idea how to do simple tasks in the kitchen.

You can make cob corn in a slow cooker? No way! Very cool. Thanks for sharing.
Stumbled you.
Sara says
I don’t understand why anyone would make corn in a slow cooker when you can make it on the stove in five minutes. Sounds like twice the work for the same result. I guess it would work for a cookout?
I stumbled you.

I think its a great idea for Thanksgiving. Frees up a stove burner and keeps it warm on the buffet line.
Jamie (Mama.Mommy.Mom) says
I usually do mine in a glass dish in the microwave! Slow cooker vs the speedy method. I bet both are equally great!
I stopped by to stumble.

Actually, you don't even need the water since the crockpot keeps the juice in the kernals. Check this out: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2008/05/crockpot-corn-on-cob-recipe.html
