Bacon wrapped garlic sage chicken is the perfect easy weeknight dinner!
Dinner always seems to sneak up on me. I have no idea how that happens because it’s always the same time every single day. But I get wrapped up in homework, after school activities, chatting with family and friends, and cleaning up messes that some times, I just forget to plan something. I’ve really been trying to come up with more quick meals that don’t require any advance preparation or planning and can be cooked quickly. {Did you see the new 15 Minute Suppers series that I’m participating in?} Anyway, I created this bacon wrapped garlic sage chicken a few days ago for my own birthday supper and there were rave reviews coming from all around my family table!
Gold’n Plump® recently asked me to partner with them to create a series of recipes, and I can’t wait to share all of my creations using this delicious chicken over the next few months. But, I have to tell you about this recipe first! It’s a recreation of my new favorite dish when we go out…chicken under brick with fresh sage. Well, I don’t have the time to make it and the first few times I tried a regular bacon wrapped sage chicken recipe, it just wasn’t right. It was missing something, but I couldn’t figure it out.
Then I had my ah-ha moment and I knew exactly what all those other recipes were missing. Garlic! I don’t think I could live in a world without garlic!
And check out this roasted asparagus, it goes perfectly with the chicken…just a little garlic olive oil and coarse kosher salt in the oven at 400F for 10-15 minutes. It’s delicious!
I’m totally loving the all natural chicken from Gold’n Plump®. I get it at Target in my area, but check the where to buy section of their site to find where you can pick some up. The chickens are raised by family farmers and I love that their labels are straight forward and easy to read. Best of all is that the chicken comes pre-trimmed and is totally delicious.
Bacon Wrapped Garlic Sage Chicken
These bacon wrapped chicken breasts are easy to make and packed with flavor!
Ingredients
- 4 chicken Breasts
- 8 fresh sage leaves
- 8 slices of bacon
- 1-2 tbsp garlic olive oil*
- salt & pepper
Instructions
- Butterfly chicken breasts by slicing each breast in half. Place the breast flat on the cutting board and with the knife parallel to the cutting board, slice the breast in half, width-wise, separating both halves.
- Season breasts lightly with salt and pepper on both sides and add a sage leaf or two to the top of each breast. Wrap a slice of bacon around each breast, making sure that the ends of the bacon are on the underneath side of the chicken.
- In a large pan, add garlic olive oil and allow to heat up for a minute over medium high heat. Carefully place chicken (sage side up) in the pan. Allow to cook for 5 minutes and then carefully flip chicken with long thongs and allow to cook for 3-4 minutes on second side. Once chicken is fully cooked stand chicken up on each of it's sides to finish crisping up the bacon.
