I know it’s hard to believe, but occasionally we have little bits of smoothie leftover. Sometimes, I just make way more than I think the kids will drink and I hate to waste it with all that fruit and veggie goodness in it.
So, I make little popsicles for the kids. You’re probably thinking…yeah that’s obvious…I already do that. However, I hate using those pre-made popsicle makers. I hate cleaning them. I hate trying to get only one out of a set of six without melting them all. I could go on and on.
Here’s where I do it a bit different. I use little disposable plastic cups or even little dixie cups work well (if you love Dixie Cups as much as I do…try these 1 Minute Dixie Cup Cakes). Pour in the leftover smoothie and add a plastic spoon. The spoon handle becomes the handle, but if your children are like mine sometimes they just want to eat it like ice cream. The spoon is already there and they can use the cup if they want to.
I know it seems very “anti-green” to use so much disposable stuff, but it makes for easy snacks that the kids can take care of themselves. And honestly, we don’t end up with a ton of leftover smoothies. It works for us!

I love the idea of the spoon, I recently started making smoothies for my daughter and started freezing the leftovers. We think she is allergic to red dye and she loves red popsicles, but she can eat strawberries! So I feel she is getting her “red” popsicle without feeling left out. I used popsicle molds but I will try this method too. Love it!
