Earlier this year, I was at a party at Hubbyman’s aunt and uncle’s home where they were showing off their beautiful garden containers. I knew I had to have my own set, so I found them online and I was lucky enough to have them send me some to try out. Easy Container Gardening with Earthboxes has never been this straightforward. Find out how this AZ gal grew herbs, peppers, and tomatoes all summer long with no problems!
I’ve had my set of Earthboxes since the beginning of the summer. I knew the best test of these boxes would be to see if they could grow plants during the harsh Arizona summer without the plants dying on me.
The kits arrived with everything I needed for my new container gardening project…except the plants and the water. The boxes come in a couple different sizes and both size options are great. I used the large boxes for tomatoes, onions, and peppers. The smaller boxes were perfect for three different herb plants per container.
I grew herbs, tomatoes, and peppers with no problems at all. In fact, I grew plants from both seed and seedling just to see if there was a difference for me and there wasn’t…everything grew beautifully. In fact, I’d even say my plants grew faster, bigger, and stronger than any other plants I’ve grown. Probably because they were actually able to to get the correct amount of water needed…even if I missed a day.
Even going on a long weekend trip, I knew our plants would be just fine….yes, even with temperatures over 110F some days in the summer. I filled the reservoir with water right before we left and then right when we got home. The plants were just starting to fade but that is in extreme conditions here in AZ summers. I can’t wait to plant some fall veggies and more herbs now that it’s starting to cool off.
I love that these boxes are small enough to move around too. You can start your plants off inside in late winter and then move outside in the spring. Or start plants off outside in the fall and bring in for the winter. So easy!
This is the longest I’ve ever used a product before doing a review, but I wanted to make sure that these planters really worked. I am by no means a gardener, just ask Hubbyman. But I knew that if I could keep my herbs and other veggies alive during our harsh AZ summer that these boxes truly work. I give them two {green} thumbs up!

I really appreciate that you share this! I’m considering doing this next year because I’m planning to build a greenhouse, so when it is cold just to move the plants there. Thanks!
