This Easy Homemade Strawberry Pudding is only 5 ingredients, simple to make, and has endless dessert possibilities!
Homemade Strawberry Pudding
My easy strawberry pudding recipe has been a family favorite for years. I make it all summer long for a simple dessert when strawberries are cheap and in season and perfectly ripe. However, I also dress it up every Valentine’s Day for a special treat for my family. The pink color makes it a festive Valentine’s dessert.
Once I tried making pudding from scratch at home, I realized I had been missing out. The flavor is so amazing and there are so few ingredients that it’s crazy NOT to make it from scratch. I swear, it’s not hard at all.
Tips on How to Make Strawberry Pudding at Home
I love making pudding from scratch (like my Eggnog Pudding or my Dark Chocolate Orange Pudding) and I assumed it would be easy to add in fresh strawberries. But no! It’s not that simple. Don’t worry, it’s still easy…it’s all about the timing of when the strawberries are added to the pudding.
Instead of cooking the strawberries with whole milk and sugar (it will curdle…don’t make the same mistake I made), heat up the milk and sugar first and thicken with cornstarch. Once the pudding is thickened, then stir in the pureed strawberries. Easy! It’s all about the timing.
What to do with Strawberry Pudding
I’ve used my homemade strawberry pudding is a few different ways. It’s the best with a little chocolate shaved on top, turned into a chocolate covered strawberry pudding parfait, make a big strawberry pudding trifle by layering strawberry pudding with pound cake and whipped cream, or my favorite is to pour it into a graham cracker pie crust and top with some whipped cream.
5 Ingredient Strawberry Pudding
Because there are just a few ingredients, the quality of ingredients is super important! High quality vanilla extract (not imitation), ripe strawberries (organic is best for the most amazing flavor), and Shamrock Farms Whole Milk.
Shamrock Farms has been family-owned and -operated in Arizona since 1922 (that’s 97 years of delicious dairy) and its new gallon and on-the-go milk packaging reflects that while still showcasing the infamous Roxie the cow we all look for in the dairy case. Their milk has 9 essential nutrients and 8g of protein per 8oz serving and it’s the number 1 source of calcium in American diet.
Shamrock Farms’ real, working dairy farm is open to the public for tours October – May so you can see firsthand their commitment to high-quality animal care so their cows stay happy and healthy. I’ve been there on several occasions (both as a blogger and with just my family and their farm is a wonderful place to visit).
