My crispy Air Fryer Tajin Chicken Wings will make your mouth water with the perfect blend of lime, chili, and butter. Perfect for the big game, but simple enough for dinner any night of the week.
Air Fryer Tajin Chicken Wings
I’ll admit it. I’m a huge chicken wing junkie. And I’ve passed my love of chicken wings onto my kids, so we have them quite a bit. I remember when wings used to be 10 cents each (yes…I’m that old) and now they are well over a $1 each when you order out. I have worked hard the last few years to really master crispy wings at home.
Ingredients
- chicken wings
- Tajin (chile lime seasoning)
- butter
- lime
I prefer my wings with no flour, baking powder, or breading. I can get the same results without all the extra ingredients, calories, carbs, and work. These Tajin Chicken wings are delicious and if you follow my tips, you’ll have such crispy wings that you’ll never go back to breading or coating your wings.
As you know I follow a low carb lifestyle and these wings fit perfectly into my diet. I usually eat the whole batch for a meal. They are keto friendly, low carb, gluten free, sugar free and yet absolutely delicious and full of lime and chili flavors.
Is Tajin spicy?
The level of spiciness is definitely a subjective thing. Tajin says that there regular product is heat level 1 of 4 on their scale. If you are sensitive to spice levels, then I’d suggest starting off using less at first. Start with 1 tablespoon and add more if you’d like.
How to get Air Fryer Chicken Wings Crispy?
The secret to getting air fryer chicken wings crispy is making sure you pat the skin dry before starting. And tossing often while they cook. I usually let them go for 10 minutes, then shake my basket (or flip with tongs if you have toaster oven type). Let them go another 5 minutes and shake. Then I shake or flip every 5 minutes until they are as crispy as I like them.
My Favorite Air Fryer
I’ve tried a couple different types and brands of air fryers and I’ve decided I prefer a basket type style. I actually hated all air fryers for the first year or so that I owned one…I just didn’t know what I was doing. However, I use it probably 4 days a week now for lunches and dinners and reheating leftovers. It’s amazing. I have this one (well, technically I have the older model but it doesn’t seem to be available anymore).
No matter what kind you have just keep using it and trying new things until you feel comfortable with it.
Can These Wings Be Made in the Oven?
Of course! See my method below. Then add your sauce and seasonings.
I love super SUPER crispy wings, but I don’t want to fry them at home. So after a lot of trial and error I finally came up with a method to get the crispiest chicken wings in the oven. You aren’t gonna believe how easy it is. Preheat oven to 400F. Prepare a large cookie sheet with nonstick spray. Dry wings thoroughly. Place wings in a single layer. Bake for 30 minutes, then drain all the liquid in the pan . Flip over wings and return to over for an additional 30 minutes. Remove from oven and toss with your favorite sauce. My crispy Air Fryer Tajin Chicken Wings will make your mouth water with the perfect blend of lime, chili, and butter. Perfect for the big game, but simple enough for dinner any night of the week.
Ingredients
- 12 chicken wings
- 1-2 tablespoons Tajin
- 1/4 cup butter, melted*
- 1 lime, juiced
Instructions
Preheat air fryer to 390 degrees.
Take the chicken wings out of the refrigerator and let them reach room temperature.
Pat dry with a paper towel.
Coat with melted butter.*
Squeeze the lime juice over the wings.
Sprinkle with Tajin. If you want a more “spicy” tasting wing, use 2 tablespoons of Tajin.
Place on air frying rack and air fry for 20-25 minutes depending on your desired crispy-ness. For best results, let wings cook for 10 minutes, then shake basket (or flip with tongs if you have toaster oven type). Let wings cook another 5 minutes and shake. Continue to shake or flip every 5 minutes until they are as crispy as you like. (See notes below for oven method.)
Notes
*If you prefer a more “healthy” wing, you can swap the butter for 0 calorie cooking spray.
