Grab a couple of these Chocolate Covered Strawberry Rice Krispies Treats because I might have created a monster when I added strawberry jello to my favorite rice krispies treats recipe and then drizzled chocolate all over the top.
I am addicted to rice krispies treats! Seriously, I’m on a quest to find the most delicious rice krispies treat recipe out there and on my journey I came up with these Chocolate Covered Strawberry Rice Krispies Treats.
What I love about this method of adding a packet of jello mix to the marshmallows is that the possibilities are endless. Don’t ya think…I can’t wait to try all sorts of new flavor combos now!
Chocolate Covered Strawberry Rice Krispies Treats
With the addition of some chocolate chips and a little drizzle of melted chocolate all over the top….these treats were a hit with the group of 11 year olds and their parents. I don’t a single treat made it home!
Another kid favorite are my S’Mores Rice Krispies Treats…you definitely don’t want to miss those! I haven’t met a Rice Krispies Treat that I didn’t love. They are so quick and easy and can be made into lots of different flavors. I actually no longer follow the recipe on the box, I’ve slightly tweaked it and I love my ratio of marshmallows to cereal so much better than the original.
Rice Krispies Treats FAQ
Whether you are new to making rice krispies treats or a pro, these questions always come up so I thought I would answer here:
Are Rice Krispies Treats Gluten Free?
Sadly, no. Rice Krispies are not gluten free despite being made from rice. And Kellogg’s no longer makes a gluten free version. But the good news is that there gluten free puffed rice cereals on the market that work. Check the natural food section at your grocery store.
Are Rice Krispies Treats Dairy Free?
Again, no they aren’t dairy free the way the recipe is originally written. However, swapping in a dairy free “butter” works like a charm. I’ve also heard that swapping an equal amount of coconut oil for the butter works great, but I personally haven’t tried that yet.
How to color Rice Krispies Treats?
Coloring Rice Krispies Treats is so easy. Use colored/flavored jello, add in a few drops of liquid food coloring to the melted marshmallows, or use colored cereal (fruity pebbles, lucky charms, etc). All of those methods work great.
How to soften Rice Krispies Treats?
If you end up with over cooked marshmallow or the treats have gone stale, cut a treat and pop it in the microwave for 15-20 seconds before eating to soften it. Keep treats fresh by wrapping tightly with plastic wrap or in an airtight container.
