When was the last time you had a truly amazing pear? It had been a really REALLY long time for me. I was asked to participate with a group of other bloggers to create recipes for New Zealand fruit and the first up were these amazing Taylor’s Gold Pears. It’s one of the best tasting pear varieties I’ve had. In all honestly, I’ve never had a pear that was so flavorful, sweet, and juicy in my whole life. Even the kids commented on how awesome they were. The case of pears that I was sent was eaten so fast that I almost didn’t get a chance to create this amazing popsicle.
Don’t those pears just look scrumptious? Taylor’s Gold Pears are from New Zealand and are perfectly fresh and delicious from mid-April through July so perfect for summer recipes. The pears are a beautiful, cinnamon colored, fully russetted skin and they are always juicy and sweet with a melt-in-your mouth texture. Follow Taylor’s Gold Pears on Twitter to keep up to date on all their juicy details {pun intended}.
These easy fruit popsices are made with only a couple ingredients then dipped in my homemade “magic shell” for a delicious hard chocolate coating! I really don’t think these could get any better. My family ate about a dozen of them in just a couple days…they kept begging for more.
I almost don’t want to part with this recipe because it’s so easy and one of those recipes that everyone begs for and wants more of so I just want to keep it all for myself. Once you learn this recipe, you can apply it to other fruit popsicles. There is no reason it wouldn’t work beautifully for pome fruits such as apples, and also fruits such as mangoes.

Chocolate Dipped Pear Popsicles
These easy fruit popsicles are made with just 2 ingredients, then dipped into homemade magic shell coating for a delicious frozen treat!
Ingredients
- 2 pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/8 cup simple syrup*
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
Chocolate "Magic Shell" Topping
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
Instructions
- Combine first four ingredients in a blender or food processor and puree until smooth. Fill up your favorite popsicle molds with puree and freeze for several hours or until completely frozen.
- To make Chocolate "Magic Shell" Topping, combine chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir together and then microwave in 30-second increments until the chocolate chips have completely softened. Remove from microwave and stir together until smooth. Cool slightly.
- Once popsicles are frozen, remove from mold and quickly dip into chocolate topping. Let harden then enjoy!
- Store leftover chocolate topping in a mason jar with lid. Reheat in microwave (with the medal lid removed) until it's melted. Heat in 30 second bursts, stirring in between to see if it's fully melted and smooth.
Notes
- *To make simple syrup, combine equal parts water and sugar in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool and store in the refrigerator until ready to use or up to a couple weeks.

They all look delicious, but I can’t wait to try the chocolate dipped popsicles. They look so simple and delicious. I especially love the chocolate dip which I can make safe for my son with food allergies.
Thanks Liz! What allergies does your son have? This recipe is gluten, dairy, egg, soy, and nut free! I hope you are able to make it so he can eat it too. Let me know if I can help. 🙂
He is allergic to milk, eggs, and peanuts. He already saw the recipe and is begging to go to the store to get pears to make it. You have already helped a ton. I have already used many of your recipes, thanks!
Wow, so simple and refreshing! And I love how you dipped them on the bias. Makes them look so swanky!
Thanks Jenni! Yes, I dipped them that way on purpose…yeah let’s go with that. 😉 LOL! I’m glad it makes them look fancy…it really was because I was too lazy to dip the other side.
Lazy or not, I think you made the right call–they’re beautiful dipped that way!
