A Guinness 40th Birthday Party is the perfect Over the Hill party for the beer lover in your life!
A couple months ago Hubbyman turned 40 and I went all out for a fun surprise party for him. I can’t believe I pulled it off, but he was totally surprised and we had a fun night. Hubbyman is a huge Guinness fan, so it was the perfect theme for his surprise 40th birthday!
These Guinness cupcakes have Guinness in the batter and is mixed into the drizzle over the top for an extra kick.
Chalkboard clips were perfect to let party guests know which cupcakes were which. There were traditional chocolate and these Guinness Cupcakes.
Candles, confetti, bottles of Guinness, a burlap “J”, burlap garland completed the details of the party table.
Table centerpieces were black chargers with a variety of white candles.
Aren’t these cookies amazing! My friend Melissa from The Baked Equation made them for me for the party. I made everything else, but hired her to surprise him with something fun and unique.
I used a ton of burlap in the party to give it rustic feel. I found this plate at the hobby store already covered in burlap. I cut out a round piece of black cardstock and used a chalk board marker to write the menu for the party.

How fun! This is a great idea for a themed party 🙂 I especially LOVE the cookies!!! {If your husband likes Guinness this much, be sure to put the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin on your Bucket List- definitely worth the free pint of ice cold Guinness, if nothing else :)}
