I’m not a huge seafood person (even though I have a tasty seafood recipe coming on Friday), but I really do enjoy shrimp. It doesn’t matter how it’s cooked…steamed, grilled, sauteed, baked, breaded, coconut…it’s all good. What I love even more is shrimp dipped in a big bowl of homemade cocktail sauce.
For the longest time, I thought the store bought stuff was amazing until I had homemade cocktail sauce at the restaurant. I almost fell out of my chair it was so good. {Shhh…don’t tell, but I pretty much licked the bowl clean.} If you’ve never tried fresh cocktail sauce then you are in for a treat.
I even dip my crab meat in it (since I can’t have butter) and that is killer! I’m not saying to forgo the butter, but consider it an option. First, you need to make a fresh little batch though. It’s so easy you can make it just for one meal and it doesn’t take any time at all to throw it together!
I love making my sauces from scratch like this (or like my chocolate syrup) is so that I can control the quality of ingredients, the salt & sugar levels, and so that I know every single ingredient. No chemicals, no funny ingredients…just good ol’ common ingredients that most of you probably already have on hand.
