While we were on our trip to San Diego, we met up with one of Hubbyman’s former co-workers. He suggested that we meet at Pacific Beach Fish Shop.
Located in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego is one of the best fish restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. It’s tiny, there is limited parking, the wait can be really long, but fish is fresh and it’s 200% worth it. Even with two tired kids and starving parents, the wait was totally worth the amazing food.
It’s not far from the beach, but everything you’d expect from a tiny fish house on the beach. It’s got open air dining, fresh fish selections, tons of people having a great time, and amazing food. Have I mentioned the amazing food yet?
When you arrive, grab a menu off the wall and get in line. Basically you pick your fish, pick your seasoning, and pick how you want to eat it (taco, salad, on a plate, or on a sandwich). The workers were very helpful in helping me figure out what to order with my allergies. Surprisingly I could have most of it!
We probably waited in line to order for about 40 minutes on a busy Sunday night, but once we placed our order, the food was out in about 10 minutes. That’s not bad at all. I ended up ordering two tacos: a shrimp taco with chipotle glaze and their famous TKO taco (minus the cream sauce and cheese). Both were delicious. I’m not a huge fish fan so I wasn’t sure if I’d like the TKO taco since it’s made with Mahi Mahi, but after one bite I was a convert. Hubbyman got the Blackened Salmon Tacos and said they were super tasty.
Their motto is:
“Get one taco for a snack or two if you are hungry.”
They are totally right…even though I was starving, two tacos and fries were the perfect sized meal for me.
They also have a large selection of local California beers that pair nicely with all the seafood.
