St Patrick’s Day Pretzels are a fun and festive treat that only take a couple minutes to make.
I love creating simple and festive treats for the kids and then surprising them after school or when they come in from playing outside. These chocolate dipped pretzels for St. Patrick’s Day are so simple that you can whip them up in no time at all. Or better yet, let the kids make their own snack and teach them how to do these themselves.
My 11yo daughter loves to help make projects like this and then gives them as little gifts to her friends in a bag with a cute handmade tag. I’d say she is way more crafty than I am, but then you’d know my secret!
St. Patrick’s Day is almost always the same week as Spring Break for us, so I’m always trying to find ways to keep the kids busy that doesn’t involve youtube or netflix.
I’ve got more creative St. Patrick’s Day ideas, like Leprechaun Bait or ideas on how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with kids.
St Patrick’s Day Pretzels
St Patrick’s Day Pretzels are a fun and festive treat that only take a couple minutes to make.
Ingredients
- 1 bag chocolate chips
- 1-2 tbls shortening
- 1 bag of pretzels (I used large gluten free pretzels from Udi's, but any large pretzel will work)
- festive St Patrick's Day sprinkles
- wax paper
Instructions
- Line work area with wax paper. Place chocolate chips in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for about 45 seconds. Stir and add one tablespoon of shortening. Return to microwave for an addition 15 seconds. Stir. Repeat until chips are melted and smooth.
- Dip one end of each pretzel in the melted chocolate. Cool for 30 seconds to 1 minute and dip in sprinkles and place on wax paper. Or lay on wax paper directly after dipping in chocolate and sprinkle the sprinkles on the pretzels. Allow to cool completely. Enjoy!

Hi, how large are the pretzels in inches. Live in Australia and having difficulty sourcing other than miniature pretzels. Thanks
