This totally easy & super delicious Vegan Fudge Recipe is perfect for vegans and people allergic to dairy!
I love fudge! However, because I’m allergic to dairy I though most fudge was out of the question..until now. I’ve come up with a delicious vegan (& so it’s dairy free) fudge recipe that is sure to please everyone. This fudge is made without sweetened condensed milk…which has become pretty standard in the majority of fudge recipes these days.
Enjoy the simple pleasure of a perfect piece of chocolate vegan fudge!

Vegan Fudge Recipe
This totally easy and super delicious Vegan Fudge Recipe is perfect for vegans and people allergic to dairy!
Ingredients
- 13 oz. coconut milk
- 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (vegan)
- 1 tsp vanilla
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- Heat coconut milk in a microwave safe bowl for 1 minute. Place chocolate chips in a large glass bowl and pour warm coconut milk over the chocolate. Let sit for 30 seconds-1 minute. Stir mixture until the chocolate is fully melted and incorporated with the milk. Add vanilla, salt, and chopped nuts.
- Pour into an 8x8 baking dish that has been lined with parchment paper or foil. Place in refrigerator for several hours to firm. Once firm, remove from pan and cut into 16 pieces.
- Note: If it seems like it won't set up, add an additional cup of chocolate chips or some powdered sugar to help thicken it up.

Hey, I tried the recipe and I love it!
Mine would not become firm enough to call fudge. I froze it and will use is as a frosting/icing at later date.
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that Barb. Can you tell me your process and ingredients so we can troubleshoot what happened? w-
I tried making this last night, but it’s still not setting fully. Do you know if it’s a lost batch or if it can it be melted back down and powdered sugar added to it to thicken it up some?
Oh no! I’m so sorry it didn’t work out. Don’t dump it, turn it into truffles. Scoop it out and roll into little balls and coat in powdered sugar, cocoa, coconut, nuts, or sprinkles.
Can you tell me if you followed the directions/ingredients or made any substitutions? I’d like to figure out what went wrong. Thanks.
Thanks for the recipe! Do you happen to know the calorie count per serving?
Hi Sarah, I don’t figure out the calories for my recipes. Sorry. w-
Could I double the recipe and put in a 9×13?
I’ve never doubled it, but it should work just fine. Let me know how it goes. w-
Unfortunately I can’t see your recipe because there is an advertisement right over the entire method and recipe!
Oh no. Thanks for letting me know. Would you mind taking a screenshot and sending it to me at aroundmyfamilytable@gmail.com so I can send it to my web guy. Thanks. w-
Thanks can’t wait to try!!
Would almond milk work?
Hi Michelle, I totally think it would work! w-
I love that this is a healthier treat, real fudge is SO bad for you. Can’t wait to make some!
hi this looks great, but what would the weight be on the chocolate as I’d like to use a bar not chips?
Hi Kim. I have no idea..as I haven’t made it by weight. I’ll definitely add it to my list of things to try and when I do I’ll add a note to the recipe. Thanks. w-
An approximate weight for the chocolate chips would be 680 grams, or 24 ounces depending on what unit of weight the chocolate bar is measured by. Hope this helps 🙂
Hi Kim!
I think a standard 12 ounce bag of chocolate chips is approx 2 cups… so my guesstimate is that 3 cups of chocolate chips would be about 18 ounces.
Also, for anyone who might want to veganize their own family’s favorite fudge recipe, and other holiday favorites…
I just found Sweetened Condensed Coconut Milk has finally hit grocery store shelves! *YAY*
I have also heard there is now Sweetened Condensed Soy Milk & Evaporated Soy Milk.
Progress!!!
Where did you find it
Hi Wendy, could I use unsweetened coconut milk?
As long as you are using the canned coconut milk and not the stuff in a carton for drinking, then it shouldn’t be an issue. w-
Thanks for the info and the recipe as well 🙂
Hey, I have a question about the recipe. Is it possible to switch out coconut milk for rice milk? Because I’m allergic to coconuts.
Thanks Tyranny
Hi Tyranny, I don’t think it would work since I was using the canned coconut milk. The only think I could think of is that it might work if you made your own “sweetened condensed milk” with rice or almond milk. w-
Got it, I’m sure I’ll fine away around it. Thanks for your help.
I bet you could use homemade cashew cream and it would be amazing!
Great idea Peter! Thanks. 🙂 w-
